European Critical Infrastructures - Operator Safety & Security Plans

Critical infrastructures play important roles for the maintenance of vital societal functions, health, safety, security, economic or social well-being of people, and its disruption or destruction corresponds to a significant impact in European Union State Member.

In this sense the protection of critical infrastructures gained legal sustenance in Portugal when, in May 9, 2011 was published Decree-law 62/2011, which transposed to national law Directive 2008/114/EC, published at the end of 2008. This legal instrument defines procedures for the identification and designation of European Critical Infrastructures, establishes the obligation to develop Operator Safety & Security Plans and forces the existence of external safety and security plans, of the responsibility of police forces and civil protection national authority.

Matriz de Risco develops Operator Safety & Security Plans for critical infrastructure for all kind of industrial activity in accordance to the national critical infrastructures inventory and guidance’s.
